Dr Amanuel Tesfai, MD FRACP
Respiratory & Sleep Physician
Dr Amanuel Tesfai is a consultant respiratory and sleep disorders specialist and general medicine physician for adults. He obtained his fellowship with The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2007. He undertook further advanced training in respiratory and sleep medicine at Monash Medical Centre and the Western Hospital.
Amanuel has been working privately in the Bayside area since 2009. He has extensive experience in the management of respiratory disorders including chronic cough, asthma, COPD, lung cancer, respiratory infections, bronchiectasis etc.
Amanuel has a particular clinical interest in sleep disorders and can arrange both home-based and hospital-based sleep studies. He is also a general physician and provides inpatient care at Holmesglen Private Hospital, Cabrini Brighton and Linacre Hospitals. He is a director of Holmesglen Lung Function Laboratory, located in Suite D1 at Holmesglen Private Hospital.
Amanuel is a current member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and Australian Association of Consultant Physicians.
Outside of medicine, Amanuel values time with his family and enjoys watching sport. He lives locally with his wife and their five sons.

Rebecca is Dr Tesfai's personal secretary and is the first point of contact for patients and referring doctors. With extensive experience in specialist medical and surgical practice administration, Rebecca plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic.
She provides compassionate, organised, and confidential support to patients, assisting with appointments, referrals, billing enquiries, and general practice coordination. She understands that many patients attending respiratory and sleep clinics may feel anxious or unwell, and she is committed to making every interaction calm, respectful, and efficient.
Working closely with Dr Tesfai, Rebecca helps coordinate patient care behind the scenes, ensuring clear communication between patients, referrers, and allied health providers. Her attention to detail and approachable manner help create a professional and supportive experience for everyone who attends the practice.
